SAVE ENERGY WITH MOBIL DTE 10 EXCEL™ 32

Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32 hydraulic oil not only has excellent lubrication behaviour, but also has the potential to save energy, reduce CO2 emissions and shorten oil preheating times. In our practical example at a customer in the plastics processing industry, switching to the high-performance oil demonstrably reduced the energy consumption of a Demag ergotech 350-2300 system injection moulding machine by up to 6.3% and significantly reduced preheating times. Customer testimonial injection moulding

This customer testimonial is based on the experience of a single customer on a Demag ergotech 350-2300 system injection moulding machine. The actual results achieved may depend on the type of machine used and its maintenance, operating and environmental conditions and the lubricant previously used.

Initial situation

Various plastic components for the automotive and commercial vehicle industry are manufactured on 85 injection moulding machines at several locations. Five different HLP 46 hydraulic oils are currently used (including Hoyer Aviaticon HY 46). As part of process optimisation, the company is looking for ways to minimise the types of lubricants used while at the same time reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions in production.

Recommendation

Our lubricant expert has recommended the use of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32, a high-performance hydraulic oil of viscosity class ISO VG 32. The optimum viscosity-temperature behaviour and the chemical structure of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32 enable the viscosity class to be lowered from ISO VG 46 to ISO VG 32. Compliance with the pump manufacturer's requirements has of course been tested and confirmed. Lowering the viscosity class promises a reduction in power loss at the hydraulic pumps and a reduction in preheating times. Thanks to the high ageing stability and very good keep-clean behaviour of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32, system cleanliness can also be guaranteed in the long term and oil change intervals can be extended.

Field trial

During the field trial on a Demag ergotech 350-2300 system injection moulding machine, measurements are taken under comparable conditions for 1 week each with the competitor products and Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32. The measured values are recorded directly on the motor of the injection moulding machine using the Econ energy monitoring system.

In the field trial, a demonstrable saving in electrical power consumption of 6.3% in favour of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32 was measured. In the long term, an average saving of 4.5% is expected.

The improved system cleanliness guarantees long component and filter service lives. In addition, the doubled oil service life contributes to lower oil consumption and a reduction in waste, which reduces maintenance and disposal costs.

The preheating time has also been significantly reduced, meaning that the injection moulding machine can now be started up more quickly. This saving was not taken into account in the field test results and therefore also reduces operating costs.

Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 32 therefore increases productivity throughout the entire manufacturing process and supports the company's sustainability goals.
