This testimonial is based on the experience of a single customer. The actual results achieved may depend on the type of machine used and its maintenance, operating and ambient conditions and the lubricant previously used.

Initial situation

Roughing, finishing, grooving, drilling and thread forming of bar material S355, free-cutting steel 11SMnPb30+C, aluminium AlMgSi and cast iron EN-GJS-400-15U is carried out in a metalworking company. A cutting oil with 10% additives was previously used. Slight resinification can be recognised in the machines. There is also heavy oil mist formation. Ways are bein sought to optimise the machining processes and reduce production costs.

Recommendation

Our lubricant expert has recommended the use of the GTL high-performance cutting oil Mabanol Cut Lub 14 G. The higher additive content of 20% enables tool life to be extended and cutting values to be increased. Furthermore, Mabanol Cut Lub 14 G has a 40% lower evaporation loss and thus promises a significant reduction in oil mist formation. The high-quality base oil has a very high flash point and also prevents resinifiaction in the machine room.

Field trial

The parameters when using Mabanol Cut Lub 14 G are recorded in a field trial under comparable conditions and compared with the data of the competitor product. The excellent rinsing behaviour of Mabanol Cut Lub 14 G leads to a significantly lower residual moisture content of the workpieces, resulting in a reduction in demand of up to 20%.

The almost complete elimination of oil mist in the machine rooms saves material and cleaning costs for cleaning the extraction systems and reduces filter costs due to significantly longer service lives. In addition, the clear view of the workpieces makes it much easier to start up the systems.

The cutting oil impresses in use with its outstanding lubrication performance, resulting in an improvement in surface quality. Furthermore, the excellent cooling performance of Mabanol Cut Lub 14 G has reduced the temperature development and optimised the cutting values. Discolouration of the chips is now effectively prevented.

All these optimisations contribute to increased productivity throughout the entire manufacturing process.
