This customer testimonial is based on the experience of a single customer on Engel Victory 2550/400 tech injection moulding machines. The actual results achieved may depend on the type of machine used and its maintenance, operating and environmental conditions and the lubricant previously used.

Initial situation

In a plastics processing company, plastic components with tumblers from 22-1000 tonnes are produced on more than 50 injection moulding machines. An HLP 46 hydraulic oil is currently used. The company would like to optimise production in terms of energy consumption and emissions.

Recommendation

Our lubricant expert has recommended the use of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46, a high-performance hydraulic oil of viscosity class ISO VG 46. The optimum viscosity-temperature behaviour and the chemical structure of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46 promise a reduction in power loss at the hydraulic pumps. Thanks to the high ageing stability and very good keep-clean behaviour of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46, system cleanliness can also be guaranteed in the long term.

Field trial & evaluation

In a field trial on an ENGEL Victory 2550/400 tech, measurements were carried out under comparable conditions with the competitor's product and Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46. An average saving in electrical power consumption of 3 % was demonstrably achieved when using the Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46. By switching all injection moulding machines to the Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46, the company saves an average of 10,125 kWh per machine each year and reduces its CO2 footprint by a total of 215 tonnes.

The improved system cleanliness guarantees long component and filter service lives. In addition, the 6-fold increase in oil service life (120,000 operating hours) contributes to lower oil consumption and a reduction in waste, which has lowered procurement, maintenance and disposal costs. Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 46 thus increases productivity throughout the entire manufacturing process and supports the company's sustainability goals.
