Customer testimonial metalworking

This testimonial is based on the experience of a single customer. The actual results achieved may depend on the type of machine used and its maintenance, operating and ambient conditions and the lubricant previously used.

Initial situation

In a metalworking company, 56 CNC machining centres are used for turning, milling and thread cutting of steel, aluminium and plastic. The previously used water-miscible coolant based on phenoxyethanol and a high mineral oil content of 59% causes irritation of the mucous membranes and respiratory tract in some employees, as well as serious skin diseases in some cases. Ways are being sought to prevent this health hazard.

Recommendation

Our lubricant expert has recommended the use of the boron- and paraben-free coolant Mabanol Cut 261 BF with a mineral oil content of 45% to prevent damage to health. In addition, the use of Mabanol Cut 261 BF promises to improve tool efficiency when tapping by at least 50% thanks to the new additive package.

Field trial

Over a field test period of six months, the parameters for the use of Mabanol Cut 261 BF are recorded under comparable conditions and compared with the data from the competitor's product. By using Mabanol Cut 261 BF, the harmful effects on employees' health can be continuously reduced and ultimately completely eliminated. In addition, tool life is extended by 150% when tapping. The machining time for HSS drills can be increased from 20 to 50 minutes. This not only leads to lower tool costs of € 7200 per year with approx. 600 HSS drills saved, but also to a significant reduction in downtimes due to tool changes and thus to a higher output quantity. These measures contribute to increased productivity throughout the entire manufacturing process.
